TenderBazaar

Government tenders from central, state and municipal portals, in one searchable feed with daily alerts.

What it does

TenderBazaar collects tenders published across central, state and municipal portals, maps them onto one schema and makes them searchable. Suppliers save the searches that matter to them and receive a daily alert when something new matches, on the web and in the mobile apps.

Who it is for

Indian small and medium suppliers and contractors who bid for government work, and the consultants who bid on their behalf.

Key capabilities

4 capabilities are documented for TenderBazaar. More are added as they are confirmed.

  1. Search across every indexed portal

One search covers central, state and municipal sources, with filters for state, category, issuing authority, value and closing date.

  2. Saved searches and daily alerts

A supplier saves the searches that match what they can actually deliver, and receives only the tenders that are new since the last send, by email and as a push notification.

  3. Android and iOS apps

The mobile apps run on the same API as the web app, so a saved search set up at a desk produces alerts on a phone without any extra setup.

  4. Subscription plans and billing

Why TenderBazaar was built

From the case study of the build, which is where the full account lives.

The problem it solves

Public tenders in India are published across dozens of central, state and municipal portals. Each portal has its own layout, its own categories, its own search and its own notification rules, and several publish only a PDF. A small supplier who wants to bid has two bad options. Either someone checks every relevant portal by hand each morning, which costs hours and still misses listings, or the supplier subscribes to several narrow feeds and pays for each. Deadlines are short, so a listing found two days late is a listing lost.

What the build covered

  1. Scraping pipelines that collect listings from central, state and municipal portals
  2. A normalisation step that maps every portal's fields to one tender schema
  3. Full-text search with category filters
  4. Alert subscriptions, so a supplier hears about a matching tender the day it is published
  5. Subscription billing
  6. An Android and iOS app
