Retail and e-commerce
Storefronts, marketplaces and B2B ordering platforms with the catalogue, payments, invoicing and logistics handled as one system.

What we build for retail
A store is easy to launch and hard to run. The work that decides whether a platform survives its second year is in order management, returns, tax, payouts and the tools the merchandising team uses every day.
Marketplaces are payout systems
Once more than one seller is involved, the platform's real job is commission, payouts and correct invoices. Orders are split per vendor at the moment they are placed, and the commission rate that applied is stored on the sub-order so history stays correct when the rules change.
B2B behaves differently
Account pricing, credit limits, approval flows and purchase orders make a B2B checkout closer to procurement than to retail. Uponyx, Tankar's own gifting platform, was built around exactly that difference.
Typical engagements
The systems Tankar builds for retail and e-commerce, as deliverables rather than adjectives.
- D2C storefronts with catalogue, search, checkout and a content-managed front end
- Multi-vendor marketplaces with vendor onboarding, commission and payouts
- B2B ordering platforms with account pricing, credit limits and approval flows
- Order management that spans several warehouses, suppliers or fulfilment partners
- Payment, tax and logistics integrations, including labels, pickups and tracking callbacks
- Merchandising and analytics tools for the people who run the store day to day
Compliance notes
The rules that shape a build in this sector and how they are handled in the system rather than in a policy document.
| Requirement | How we build for it |
|---|---|
| PCI DSS | Checkout is built so card details go to the payment provider directly and only a token reaches your systems, which keeps the assessment scope small and the annual work manageable. |
| GST e-invoicing | For Indian sellers above the notified turnover threshold, invoices have to be reported to the Invoice Registration Portal and carry an invoice reference number and QR code. Invoicing is built against that flow, including credit notes for returns, rather than as a PDF template. |
| Consumer protection and e-commerce rules | Marketplaces in India carry duties on seller disclosure, grievance handling and country of origin. Those are data fields and workflows, so they are designed into vendor onboarding and the product record rather than added to a policy page. |
| GDPR and UK GDPR | For stores selling into the UK or the EU, consent for marketing and analytics, retention of order and account data, and a route to export or delete a customer record are built into the platform. |
